My servers

If anybody was interested in my specs :3

Node 01: Ryzen Custom

$ fetch-specs --target ryzen_node
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
RAM: 32GB DDR4 ECC
OS: Proxmox VE
STORAGE: RAID5 10TB (5x2TB)
NIC: 10GbE PCIe

Originally built in 2023 out of spare parts, this machine is my most time-consuming project. It began life as a "naked" build with no case, utilizing abandoned components from 2000-2010.

Today, it acts as my primary application host. It handles Nextcloud, Samba, Plex, and various game servers. By hosting these myself, I provide services for my family and friends while bypassing the monthly fees of large corporations.

Node 02: HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9

$ fetch-specs --target hp_proliant
CPU: 2x Intel® Xeon® E5-2680 v3
RAM: 96GB ECC DDR4
OS: Proxmox VE
FORM: 1U Rackmount
STORAGE: RAID5 3.5TB (3x500GB)
ILO: Integrated Lights-Out 4

Ended up buying a rackmount server off of a friend for $100. Best and worst decision of my life.

Don't get me wrong, the machine is amazingly cool and i've had alot of fun with it. but its L O U D. It has been cool to mess around with enterprise hardware in my own home though...

My Philosophy on Self-Hosting

At around 10 years old, I got my hands on an old laptop and quickly realized the power of hosting my own Minecraft servers. The more people who are able to host their own services, the better. It's about taking back control of your data and learning how the internet actually works.
